Blog Hop Thursday--

Every Thursday the Sassy Brit invites authors to answer a question provided by an affiliate author. It's fun to "hop" around cyberspace to discover each author's post on this question. Join us today as we answer Faith Luna's question.

What do you dream of accomplishing with your writing?  Question provided by affiliate authorFaith Luna

In a perfect world, readers pick up my books and jump for joy that there is another fantastic opportunity to be entertained with beautiful word phrases, clear word pictures, unique characters, and clever twists.

While bringing joy and escape to my reader's life, I also embed some of my rants on social and environmental issues. In Sunshine Boulevard, I have subtle comments on humankind encroaching on nature, upsetting the ecological environment, over-medication of senior citizens, and the disrespect for older citizens. Let me assure you, I do not beat the reader over the head with my beliefs, but if you re-read the story, you will discover these issues.

Writing is a way to get my voice heard and to release my frustration about issues. Hopefully the reader will pick up on that.

I like the idea of sending the reader a subtle message about your opinions. I'm sure that takes a lot of practice to do well.

I think due to the horror aspect of my book, readers will probably need to re-read for any of these "messages." Hopefully they're too scared to think about social issues at the first reading!! Thank you for visiting, Angelica.

I did notice the subtle hints, especially the disrespect and over medication of older people. Maybe I noticed them because I'm older and I've seen what over medicating people can do. That being said, the horror in the book did over power these hints. You did a great job.

I love the idea of subtly getting your message across, nothing will turn a reader away faster than a book that screams either a religious or political belief. This is probably why I don't read a lot of autobiographies or self-help books.

Your book sounds interesting. A horror story with life lessons? A unique approach. Nice.

I find I can handle messages being sent in the stories I read. Perhaps it's because of my own senior status and how I loved reading the fables when I was growing up. I've learned every book, every movie, every situation, can offer a message we need to learn and I also think I actively search for them. lol Thinking, "Now what will I get out of this one?" Good post, good ideas.

I agree, it sounds like a great horror story - intriguing! It's good to slip in issues that mean a lot to you, it quite often gets the reader to connect easier, plus you will know your subject and give your character a new, intriguing slant on life to keep the reader hooked.

Good luck with your goals!
