March 4 question - Other than the obvious holiday traditions, have you ever included any personal or family traditions/customs in your stories?
I don't believe I have other than inserting tidbits from my personal life into the life of the character like loving m&ms or eating chips dipped in ketchup. I also set the scenes in places I have visited or lived such as a funeral home or an old barn.

Seeking Your Advice on Book Marketing
Because there are so many savvy bloggers here during the IWSG Blog Hop, I hope you will help me with overcoming the insecurity of marketing my memoir, Arranging a Dream. On this blog, I usually talk about tips on writing and feature authors' fiction. With the release of my memoir in June, I wonder if I should open a new blog about memoir writing and memoir reading.

Not only to focus on the June release of the memoir but also because I am a Life Storytelling evangelist! I established-- 
  • a Facebook group, Telling Your Life Story and Memoirs Circle, 
  • published a journal for life story writers, Your Words, Your Life Story: A Journal for Sharing Memories.  
  • leading a workshop on Life Storytelling. 
The blog would be fun to write, but so time-consuming trying to keep 2 blogs afloat. Is it better to keep this blog as a hub for all my fiction and non-fiction books?

I definitely wouldn't call myself an expert, but if it were me, I'd probably want to put all of my content in one place. It just seems easier to have one blog, and I think people who enjoy what you post here will still be interested in your posts about memoirs.

I have two blogs I maintain. One for Stormdance and my author platform Writer's Gambit. I enjoy it. You could schedule this day for this blog and this day for that blog dividing your time.

Some people like using editorial calendars. I started one but I don't check it everyday. I have found daily list work better for me. I keep track of those by day and date in OneNOte like a journal entry. I don't always get them all done but I make progress through the list removing and adding as needed. The items are things I can or might get done and need doing.

So I guess I think you should do both. Although on hub is nice it will help keep the task separate, but you have to maintenance two sites.

I'm no expert, but I'm leaning toward keeping your content at one site. You have regular followers here. You could choose special days for each subject. Every Friday for the memoir and combine it with Thursdays, then have Mondays and Tuesdays for creative non-fiction. Or not. Gads, I'm a lot of help, eh!

It's challenging to manage multiple blogs so you'd have to be ready for that. I have 4 and only two are really active (the others are limited).

Hmm. I'm thinking about dipping potato chips into catsup. I've never tried it, but catsup and potatoes go together.

I think you should stay with one blog. Easier and less time consuming. You already have an audience here. Good luck. I love Mollie's penchant for M&Ms. lol

Hi JQ, you've built up a following on this blog and readers of your novels (including me!) will be interested in your memoir. My feeling is that keeping one blog will work well. I'm looking forward to release!

I vote for keeping one site, J.Q. because people know where to find you. You post a lot as it is. Setting up a separate place seems to really cut into your writing/marketing time. Several people suggested picking a day to focus on the memoir writing, you could do that. Like Helena said, I can't wait to read the memoir. :)

Thank you, Helena. I asked around about using my real name for the memoir, but most said people who read my stories would be interested in reading my memoir. So I used the pen name.

I definitely think you should stick with one blog given how time consuming it is to build up a following. Maybe try to connect with your target readers on other social media sites.
