RoseHave you incorporated time to listen to podcasts in your busy daily schedule? Podcasts are convenient ways of learning about the writing industry and a worthwhile link in keeping up with the fast-paced world of books. I like to listen to an audiobook while I'm cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, but I thought sitting around listening to a podcast was a waste of time. I felt guilty if I weren't baking, cooking, cleaning, folding laundry. But, I have changed my mind. Since discovering a writer's podcast with so much inspiration and information, I do not feel I'm wasting time. During The Creative Penn program presented by prolific author, Joanna Penn, I take notes and learn about other author's writing journeys Her pleasant voice with that British lilt in her conversations is delightful. She interviews writers and pulls out the best responses from them offering helpful tips on writing, publishing, marketing and support for writers. I always pick up a nugget I can use for my writing projects. Click here to visit Joanna Penn's podcast, The Creative Penn. EarbudsImage by Free stock photos from www.rupixen.com from Pixabay A whole new world of help and inspiration has opened up for me because of podcasts available to writers. Here's a list from The Write Life for you to get started. I hope at least one of these may be helpful to you on your writing path. I started trying it out in 2018 at my FB author page, J.Q. Rose, Author. I feel a bit more comfortable now, but I'd feel so much better if I could make my hair look good on camera! Anyway beginning Wednesday, July 15, at 9 a.m. on my FB group, Telling Your Life Story and Memoirs Circle, I am going to offer a write-in challenge for 3 Wednesdays in a row. I'll let you know how that works out next month. If you'd like to do some timed free-writing in a live group with interaction, click here to find out more. If you can't make it live, the replay will be available. Have you done FB Live or do you watch them? Please tell us about your experience in a comment below. Thank you. I love podcasts! I used to listen to them while driving to Germany every weekend, but now that I don't do that (thank goodness!) I was struggling to find the time. I recently discovered I can do my Amazon ads while listening. Now that's multi-tasking at it's best. Good luck with your FB live. I haven't tried it yet.
I just went and checked out one of your videos, and I don't know what you're saying about your hair. It looks great. I accidentally watched a Facebook live video once. Accidentally, because I don't go on Facebook much. I update my author page, but not my personal page. I've watched some live videos on Instagram and Tiktok, but not many. I do believe it's something I'll have to get into at some point, and I'm looking forward to your update next month!
I listen to a few podcasts. Writers Helping Writers by K.M. Weiland is really good. It's in the list of best podcasts you provided. I just added Joanna Penn's podcast to my list. Thanks.
I'm not much into podcasts but I do listen to a lot of FB and Insta Lives- some of them are really useful!

You ARE a multi-tasker! I need to check into those Amazon ads. Thanks--the first FB Live Write-In is over and I did have a few people actually show up for the Live part! FB has changed the FB Live format a bit, so I stumbled around looking for comments, but found them near the end of the time. Looking forward to next week!
Thanks on the hair compliment! My usual hairdresser is not at the shop anymore, so I had to have a new gal cut my hair after COVID crisis. Not like I usually wear it, but it turned out pretty good this morning! for once!
Yes, I like K.M. Weiland and her books. Glad the list was helpful!
Hi Lady Lawyer, thanks for visiting today. I guess we have to be pro-active to make podcasts a part of our schedule. I'm not there yet.
I've started listening to podcasts, too, JQ. There are some great ones for writers and booklovers out there. Thanks for sharing the list! I haven't done FB live, but I've watched others. Generally I prefer to read posts, as I can read so much quicker, and I'm trying not to get sucked into social media too much. Thanks for your interesting post!
Hope the FB group is going well.
Hugs
Thanks, Helena. Social media can be addictive. And great way to procrastinate.
Thanks, Sandra. I'll report on the write-in next month. I'm ot having as much interaction as I thought I would. People are lurking, but not commenting.
I have to admit I haven't listened to many podcasts, though David Gaughran has a good series.
I tried a FB live video once and stumbled through all 30 seconds of it, lol. Practice makes perfect, I guess :)
I love Youtube also. D'vorah Lansky calls it a digital encyclopedia!
I started doing them 2 years ago after participating in a challenge. Then I started using StreamYard to do them because it offers a banner at the bottom, but you can't see the folks who are commenting. So I just tried doing the FB Live on the page and they changed everything! It was like starting all over. Hope this next one on Wednesday will go smoother..fingers crossed.
