Hello and Welcome to the Focused on Story Blog AND the Insecure Writers Support Group Blog Hop

Question of the Month

Question Mark Image by Peggy und Marco Lachmann-Anke from Pixabay
September 2 question - If you could choose one author, living or dead, to be your beta partner, who would it be and why?

Ooh, what a delicious question. So many possibilities. I choose Jan Karon, author of the Mitford series.
  • Jan is witty, and I like humor in my writing.
  • She can put words down on the page that draw out so many different emotions while drawing in readers.
  • Her characters are loved by people all over the world.
  • The scenes move the action along.
Another reason to choose Jan to read and give feedback on my story is she is a gentle person and would probably be kind!
I am anxious to read the blog posts this month to see what authors are favorites of the IWSG bloggers.

Happy IWSG Day!!

As one with very thin skin, I like your final comment about Jan being kind.

I haven't heard of Jan either. I will have to check out her books.

It's so fun to see who everyone is picking! My poor, poor, TBR list... ha ha ha.

If you want a warm, friendly feel good story, you'll want to start with book 1 and keep going.

J.Q. Rose said...

I probably should have put being kind as the first thing!

J.Q. Rose said...

I hope you will. I'm sure they are available at your library.

J.Q. Rose said...

I hope you like her stories.

I know! Glad I read eBooks on my Kindle. Otherwise my TBR pile of books would fill my office!

We want honesty but we like it gentle!

Hi, J.Q.! Jan Karon is a super choice! I like kind people, especially these days. I'm working on setting up an author's page. I really like your media kit. I'm going to follow your example. Happy fall!

Hey, J. Q. What an intriguing question. I've heard of Jan, but haven't read any of her books.Maybe I'll have to give her a try. I confess to having a limited range of the books I read. LOL I like what I like and don't vary far. The kindness factor is so important. I've shared.

Thanks, Fundy for so many kind words. Especially appreciate your compliments on the media kit. Looking forward to seeing your author's page!

Thank you, Marsha. I love the main character in the Mitford series, an Episcopalian priest. Talk about kindness and funny. When his dog gets rowdy, he just recites a Bible verse and the dog calms down. I really got attached to the characters in the little town. Hope you check it out at the library.
Thanks for sharing!
