Question of the Month

February 3 question - Blogging is often more than just sharing stories. It’s often the start of special friendships and relationships. Have you made any friends through the blogosphere?
Friends

The answer to the question is yes! I have made friends through IWSG as well as writers in  FB groups and publishing houses. When I was first published I was astounded by the generosity and support from experienced authors. I thought we would be competitors but that never occurred. Having my horizons broadened by meeting folks from around the world is an opportunity I cherish.

I am happy to be friends with three authors whom I met through my first publishing house in 2010. In fact, we are planning on gathering together at Mackinac Island, Michigan, in October 2022! The authors are from Wisconsin, Texas and England and I am in Michigan.
I am grateful to IWSG friends who have hosted me on the Arranging a Dream: A Memoir Virtual Book Tour this winter and to those who will give my memoir a shout out this week.

That's awesome you have a trip planned with your writer friends at Mackinaw Island. I live in Michigan but have never been there. I've lived in Michigan all my life and haven't made it there or to the U.P.

How fun to be meeting with your author friends, J.Q.!

Hi JQ,
I am discovering the same thing as I publish my first short story. The authors that I know in the organisations that I participate in are so helpful.

Wishing you all the best.

Hey, JQ. Gosh, I hate to admit I've never heard this song, but it's delightful, and I'll probably be singing it all day long. And that's okay. :) Like you, I've found fellow authors to be supportive and not competitive. I guess we all have the belief that there are enough readers out there to go around. Not all of us write the same thing and readers don't like all the same thing. It works out. Thanks for this post. I value our friendship. :) PS. I really like the cover on Girls Succeed. :)

Having other writers at your back is essential. Glad you have your gang's support!

Natalie!!! You must go to Mackinac Island. Granted it has become more touristy when we originally visited way back when. But riding around the 9 mile road around the island with the lake, and I mean GREAT lake, on one side and gorgeous scenery and quaint village on the other, you'll be glad you did. And the Grand Hotel and the fudge! YUM! No automobiles. The carriage rides. I could go on and on. Visit during the shoulder seasons for fewer tourists, but bring your warm clothes! How many hours are you from the island? We're about 4.

Not set in stone, yet. Fingers crossed!

Yes. I guess we have to pass it on. Looking forward to visiting you tomorrow at your lovely blog. Thank you for helping me get the word out about my memoir!

I really hadn't heard the song either, but it caught me. I was actually looking up that old song like Lucy and Gene Kelly sang, Friendship, friendship. It's the perfect blendship. But it was soooo old fashioned, I opted for Bruno's. Glad you like it. I could have used Stand By Me.

Thank you. So true.

Thank you. Yep, that graphic says it all.

I was astounded by how supportive the writing community is too. I didn't expect how generous they would all be with their encouragement, support, and advice. An awesome group of people.

I hope you and your friends have a great time on Mackinac Island. What fun! Just hope covid doesn't mess up your plans. Congrats on your new release.

I agree! Thank you for spotlighting my memoir on your blog today. Talk about supportive!

Thank you. We are being very positive that COVID will be a thing of the past by October 22!
